The Center for Latin American & Caribbean Studies has an array of resources available to faculty, students and educators. We have over 80 events annually, including lectures, workshops,
films, concerts and conferences. We seek to strengthen interdisciplinarity and develop more experiential learning opportunities that foster language development, regional
knowledge and to collaborate with professional schools. The Center's resources, available for check-out, are acquired and updated frequently.

which promotes the learning and teaching of languages, cultures, and the humanities at the University of Kansas.


Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) Resources:

Cultural Trunk

Graduate Students Javier Barroso and Luis Rodriguez Cortes discuss the history and their experiences of Día de los Muertos and highlight some of the artifacts in the Center for Latin American & Caribbean Studies' Cultural Trunk.


Open Educational Resources for Foreign Languages (EGARC):  Includes open-access reference sources, study materials, and textbooks for Haitian Creole, Portuguese, Quichua, and Spanish.
Peru (Library resources): This guide provides relevant topics related to Peru. It includes categories like science, art, culture and biology in Amazonian Peru.
Portuguese Language (Library resources): Designed to help students conducting research about all topics related to the Portuguese language, Brazil and Portugal.
Spain, Latin America, and Portugal (Library resources): Includes important reference sources, databases, major websites on aspects of Ibero-American literatures, languages, cultures, film, archival resources, as well as tutorials and other tools for managing the complex process of academic research.
Cultural Trunks: Delivering the sights and sounds of Latin America to your classroom with country themed boxes of artifacts! Bonus: there are accompanying lessons plans to go with each trunk! Videos: VHS & DVD films in the Latin American Collection listed alphabetically or categorically.
Lesson Plans: Offering informative and useful assistance for your classroom instruction. Music: The center's music library is comprised of more than 150 albums, representing approximately
1000 artists, from throughout Latin America.
EL LASO Digital Newsletter: Providing a thematic, multimedia look into the latest research and news on Latin American Affairs
Free teaching resources and bilingual articles.

Books & Maps: The center's books cover every region of Latin America and address a variety of topics. Music: The center's music library is comprised of more than 150 albums, representing approximately 1000 artists, from throughout Latin America.

Teacher Reach-Out Workshops: Connecting teachers with our resources and each other. KU Acceso: The University of Kansas Collaborative Digital Spanish Project (Acceso) is an open-access, digital learning environment designed to promote the acquisition of Spanish and the development of cultural understanding of the varied groups of people who share Spanish as a common language.
