Educator Resources

  • Vamos A Leer: A fabulous blog created by the Latin American and Iberian Institute at the University of New Mexico.  The blog supports teaching about Latin America and the Caribbean by providing resources for K-12 educators including lesson plans, author and book suggestions, and related materials. Vamos A Leer encourages educators to "use great literature to create globally literate students, to engage in authentic discussions of culture, and to think about social justice issues."
  • Peace Corps: Find a speaker, connect with a volunteer in the field, exchange penpal letters with a classroom in another country, or access lesson plans from the Caribbean, Central America and Mexico, and South America. Part of the World Wise Schools initiative. World Wise Schools promotes the Peace Corps' Third Goal of teaching Americans about the world by providing educational resources to promote global competence.
